The NMR Structural Biology Facility contains Varian INOVA 400, 500 and 600 MHz four-channel NMR spectrometers with quadruple resonance capabilities and pulsed-gradient probes. Each instrument is equipped with two waveform generators. Cryogenic probes with sensitivity better than 3 times that of conventional, room-tempertaure probes have been installed on the 500 and 600 MHZ spectrometers. Contact the Facility Manager, Dr Mark Maciejewski, to arrange spectrometer access. Fees for academic use Fees for commercial users |
![]() | Computational Facility |
|
The NMR Computational Facility contains Linux servers, an Apple Macintosh workstation, seven Linux workstations, monochrome and color laser printers. For computationally demanding applications a 20-node (40 processor) Apple Macintosh Xserve cluster is available. The computational laboratory provides software for processing and analysis of NMR data, calculation of molecular structures from experimental data, and molecular structure visualization. Currently available software packages include NMRPipe, The Rowland NMR Toolkit, Felix, NMRView, CYANA, X-PLOR, MOLMOL, InsightII, VMD, and others. Fees: Unlimited access to the facility is provided for $400 per academic lab per year plus a small charge per page for color prints. |

The Peng Lab maintains a Jasco 710 spectropolarimeter for both near- and far-UV circular dichroism studies. The instrument contains a Peltier thermostated sample holder for thermal melts. Contact Dr Zheng-yu Peng directly to arrange access [Phone: (860) 679-2885; Email: peng@sun.uchc.edu]. Fees |
![]() | Multi-Angle Laser Light Scattering Facility |
|
A multi-angle laser light scattering (MALLS) facility is available for investigating the size, shape, and oligomerization of macromolecules. Light scattering is measured using a Wyatt miniDAWN laser photometer. Concentration can be measured by refractive index and/or UV absorbance. Contact Dr Glenn King to arrange access [Phone: (860) 679-8364; Email: glenn@psel.uchc.edu].
